The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) seeks recent graduates, skilled workers, businesspeople and their families with the intention and ability to successfully settle and economically establish in Manitoba as permanent residents. Manitoba makes it easy to immigrate and settle for immigrants.

Main streams for Manitoba immigration are:

Skilled Workers Stream

Skilled Workers in Manitoba

The Skilled Workers in Manitoba pathway nominates applicants who have a strong connection to Manitoba through ongoing employment and skills, education and training, work experience and official language proficiency to make an immediate and ongoing contribution to the Manitoba economy and community.

Skilled Workers Overseas

This program is for Skilled Workers Overseas, to be eligible under this program an applicant must demonstrate an established connection to Manitoba either through the support of family members or friends, through previous education or work experience in the province or through an Invitation to Apply received directly from the MPNP as part of a Strategic Recruitment Initiative. Candidate must have a express entry profile. Candidate must also have experience in an occupation listed in Manitoba’s In-demand Occupation’s list.

International Education Stream

Career Employment Pathway

The Career Employment Pathway provides faster nomination pathways for post-secondary students who graduate and find long-term employment in Manitoba in an in-demand occupation consistent with their training. Applicants can apply to the MPNP immediately after graduating and obtaining the job offer if they meet other requirements.

Note: International student who graduated in another province of Canada can not apply under this program.

Graduate Internship Pathway

The Graduate Internship Pathway provides faster nomination pathways for international student master and doctoral graduates through internships contributing to industry innovation in Manitoba. Graduates who complete an Accelerate or Elevate internship with Mitacs in Manitoba can apply to the MPNP immediately after graduation, whether or not they have a job offer.

Note: International student who graduated in another province of Canada cannot apply under this program.

International Student Entrepreneur Pilot

The International Student Entrepreneur Pilot will provide up to 20 (per year) international students who have graduated in Manitoba the opportunity to pursue entrepreneurship rather than employment. Once the applicant meets the conditions of their Business Performance Agreement, they are nominated for permanent residence.

NOTE: Attending an information session is required before applying. If you are an international student who graduated in another province of Canada, you may be eligible to apply under the Business Investor Stream Entrepreneur Pathway.

Business Investor Stream

There are two pathways:

 Entrepreneur Pathway this program is for applicants seeking to open a business in Manitoba. To apply under this program, applicant must have:

  • 3 years of experience as an active business owner, or senior management in a successful business in the last 5 years.
  • meet the minimum language requirement of CLB 5;
  • have a minimum of a Canadian high school certificate equivalent.
  • make a minimum investment of Cad $250,000 if the business is in the Manitoba Capital Region (Winnipeg area), or a minimum investment of Cad $150,000 if the business is outside the Manitoba Capital Region.
  • The business must create at least one job for a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident in Manitoba.
  • submit a business plan.
  • conduct a Business Research Visit no more than one year before submitting an EOI.
  • sign a Business Performance Agreement after the application is approved.
  • have a net worth of at least CAD $500,000.

Farm Investor Pathway this program is for those intending to establish and operate a farm operation in rural Manitoba. Farm Investor Pathway candidates must conduct a Farm Research Visit in Manitoba no more than one year before beginning the process. To be eligible under this program, you must

  • have at least three years of farm business management or farm ownership and operation experience.
  • be proficient in English or French.
  • invest at least CAD $300,000.
  • intend to establish the farming business in rural Manitoba
  • submit a farm business plan.
  • conduct a Farm Business Research Visit.
  • intend to live on the farm and participate in the management of the farm business.
  • have a net worth of at least CAD $500,000.
