Express entry is point base system for skilled workers to apply for Canadian Immigration. Potential skilled workers who want to immigrate to Canada as skilled workers submit their profile in express entry pool. Applicants will be ranked in express entry pool using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). CRS score is based on applicant’s skills, education, language, work experience and other factors.
There are 3 immigration programs managed through Express Entry
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) Majority of applicants immigrate to Canada under FSWP. This program is best suited for candidates who have never lived, studied, or worked in Canada.
Today, the FSWP is managed through the Express Entry application management system. Under Express Entry, Canada aims to welcome over 110,000 immigrants by 2024. Most successful Express Entry candidates immigrate to Canada through the FSWP. Research by the Canadian government shows that FSWP immigrants go on to have successful and fulfilling careers in Canada.
In addition, pursuing immigration through the FSWP is beneficial since you can gain permanent residence within six months, compared with longer processing times for Canada’s other skilled worker programs.
Minimum Eligibility requirements:
- Get at least 67 points in the 100-grid point in the FSWP program.
- 1 year of continuous full time or equivalent experience in the past 10 years in a skilled occupation NOC level O, A or B.
- Minimum Canadian Language benchmark 7 in English or French in all modules (reading, writing, listening, and speaking)
- Canadian educational credential or foreign credential (certificate, diploma, or degree)
- Meet the settlement funds criteria. Show enough funds to support themselves financially.
Canadian Experience Class (CEC) This program is best suited for international students and temporary foreign workers in Canada, who wants to live in Canada permanently and get permanent resident.
Minimum Eligibility requirements:
- Have at least one year of skilled, professional, or technical work experience in Canada within 3 years of the application date; and
- Meet or exceed Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 5 for NOC TEER category 2 or 3 jobs or CLB 7 for NOC TEER category 0 or 1 jobs.
- Canadian educational credential or foreign credential (certificate, diploma, or degree)
- Plan to live and work outside of the province of Quebec.
Federal Skilled trades Program (FSTP) This program is best suited for skilled trade workers. Canada is always looking for skilled trade workers to support its Labour force. The skilled trade is an area which is always in demand in Canada. FSTP candidate with Canadian experience have very high chances of success under express entry program.
Minimum Eligibility requirements:
- have valid job offers of continuous, paid, full-time employment (at least 30 hours a week) from up to two employers in Canada for at least one year or a certificate of qualification issued by a Canadian province or territorial body.
- have at least 2 years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within the 5 years before you apply; and
- meet the job requirements for that skilled trade as set out in the National Occupational Classification, except for needing a certificate of qualification
- Meet or exceed Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 5 for speaking and listening and CLB 4 in reading and writing.
- Canadian educational credential or foreign credential (certificate, diploma, or degree)
- Plan to live and work outside of the province of Quebec.
Skilled trades for the Federal Skilled Trades Program are organized under these groups of the National Occupational Classification (NOC):
- Major Group 72, technical trades and transportation officers and controllers
- excluding Sub-Major Group 726, transportation officers and controllers
- Major Group 73, general trades
- Major Group 82, supervisors in natural resources, agriculture and related production
- Major Group 83, occupations in natural resources and related production
- Major Group 92, processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors, and utilities operators and controllers
- Major Group 93, central control and process operators and aircraft assembly assemblers and inspectors, excluding Sub-Major Group 932, aircraft assemblers and aircraft assembly inspectors
- Minor Group 6320, cooks, butchers and bakers
- Unit Group 62200, chefs
